The oval tool places a mask that is taller than it is wide. Corners are cleared and the file is a transparent PNG.
Use the round tool for a true circle and the ellipse tool when you want to drag both radii. This page is only the classic oval.
Questions
Why are the corners empty?
Pixels outside the mask are removed. PNG keeps that gap. A JPG conversion fills it with white.
Is an oval the same as an ellipse?
No. The oval uses a fixed cameo ratio. On the ellipse tool you drag the horizontal and vertical percent.
Is the file published?
No. The link is not a gallery and the file is deleted after eight days.
