Edit
Compress an image
The size drop comes from re-encoding at the quality you pick.
How it works
- 1
Set the quality.
- 2
Choose JPG or WEBP.
- 3
Download.
Even if you upload PNG or WEBP, the output is JPG or WEBP. JPG turns transparency white. WEBP can keep it.
Quality runs from 40 to 90. A high value shrinks less. Resize first if the pixel size itself is the problem.
Questions
Why does it sometimes not shrink?
Saving an already compressed JPG at a high quality does not always make a smaller file.
Will text stay sharp?
Low quality breaks letter edges. Try above 75 for images that contain type.
Retention?
Eight days.
